An experienced project leader and urban planner, Steve has made a career out of finding solutions to complex urban problems by combining public and private sector expertise. He has a strong interest in finding practical ways to implement policy initiatives through the urban development process and understands the interface between Government and the private sector in the urban development arena. This led Steve to executive roles in UrbanGrowth NSW Development Corporation, via sustainability planning and a number of other management roles at Landcom and UrbanGrowth NSW.
Career highlights include managing the planning and implementation stages of The New Rouse Hill project, which includes the multi-award winning Rouse Hill Town Centre; overseeing the development of Landcom's acclaimed Design Guidelines; helping shape and develop the PRECINX sustainability software; managing the sale of the Australian Technology Park to a Mirvac-led consortium; and as lead negotiator securing the Agreement for Lease for the new Sydney Fish Market.
Since starting Driscoll Advisory in July 2019, Steve has worked for a range of public sector clients on tasks as varied as delivering precinct-scale strategic plans to manage future growth and change in inner-city areas; providing critical analysis of existing urban planning and place management programs and making recommendations on how to restructure them to better meet future challenges; and preparation of internal business cases for delivering new services and programs to boost housing supply.
Steve's work for private sector clients has included managing the rezoning of urban release areas and Town Centres; identifying the impact of revised Government policies on future development plans and advising how to restructure projects to align with new policy directions; and providing strategy advice to private sector companies on working with Government, particularly in direct dealings and unsolicited proposals.
Steve provides services to local government as either a Chair or Expert member of various local planning panels.
